The Schumann Resonance is the auric field of the planet. The space between the earth’s surface and the ionosphere contains electromagnetic activity in the ELF (extremely low frequency) band. It can vary somewhat between day and night and the seasons, but is usually consistent at 7.83 Hz (the “earth’s heartbeat”.)

Lately, there have been significant irregularities and spikes in the Schumann Resonance, and people are literally buzzing! There are many theories as to why, and what it could mean.

That 7.83 Hz corresponds to the alpha (8-12 Hz) and theta (3.5-7.5 Hz) brainwave frequency in humans. It’s a relaxed, dreamy, intuitive, and imaginative state that is internally focussed, as in meditation and prayer. Schumann Resonance reduces stress and inflammation throughout our system, and enhances the body's healing processes and abilities (including cell regeneration).

In nature, the sun primarily affects the ionosphere from above through solar flares; lightning strikes on earth affect it from below. We had the largest geomagnetic sun storm in six years on March 23rd, and another spike just occurred July 22nd. This has an ongoing effect on the earth's energy as it reverberates around the globe.

Why the Schumann Resonance is behaving differently could be explained by many things. One big question is, are we being affected by an external event, or helping to create it? And is our participation based in our biology, or in technology we have created?

Closer to the earth's surface, we live in a world of artificially produced electromagnetic fields. Generated by power supply systems, telecommunications, appliances, computers and other technology, they are especially concentrated in urban areas. They bounce off hard surfaces, creating an even more chaotic and polluted energetic environment. This factor has been associated with an increased incidence of cancer, heart disease, depression and other illnesses.

HAARP (first developed in the 1990's in the USSR) is a device that beams high frequencies beyond the ionosphere, heating it up and causing electron precipitation from the volatile radiation belt. These accelerated particles alter the ionosphere, impacting the Schumann Resonance. Are humans once again messing with a weapon of catastrophic potential? A huge field of potential energy in the radiation belt could be triggered and released as a geophysical weapon.

Another theory is that humanity itself is interacting with the ionosphere as we shift into higher consciousness. Variations in the Schumann Resonance influences us in subtle ways; is it possible the reverse is true as well? Solar energy moves into the earth’s crust, and then back up through our foot chakras. Our auric field is actually energy emanating from within to surround us. As a group, we must also be contributing to the electromagnetic frequency of the planet.

Neurons in the thalamus (one of our master endocrine glands) appears to be a "pacemaker" bringing us into coherence with the planetary frequency. Schumann Resonance and the corresponding human brain wave patterns have many benefits - and are actually an antidote to unnatural, man-made electromagnetic fields. There are "earthing" techniques to bring us back to that inate, primal connection with all. Some believe that at a certain (ascension) point everyone will be on the same frequency, living in harmony.

We can only trust that doing our conscious bit in the larger scheme of things is how we can contribute to true evolution on this luminous jewel of a planet.
